Zirconium (Zr) mass-independent isotope anomalies in early Earth, early Solar System and other planetary materials have been extensively explored, but the stable isotope systematics of this element and their potential fractionation in magmatic environments remain poorly known. In this talk, I will discuss our recent efforts to understand the behavior of Zr stable isotopes on Earth, and show that surprisingly large fractionations, far beyond those predicted by equilibrium thermodynamics, can be induced at magmatic temperatures.
